General

• What is Meddly and how does it work?

  

  Meddly is a platform for crowdsourced event video and auto-generated multi-angle productions. It turns every smartphone in the room into a synchronized camera. You create an event, connect devices, and one manager controls the recording. After the event, Meddly automatically syncs and assembles footage from all angles into polished multi-angle videos called Moments. No manual editing required.

• What devices and platforms does Meddly support?

  

  Meddly is available as a mobile app on both iOS and Android:

  • iOS: iPhone running iOS 15.1 or later.
  • Android: Devices running Android 7.0 (Nougat) or later.

  iPad is not currently supported. The app works over both Wi-Fi and cellular connections. You can also upload footage from digital cameras, drones, and other recording devices after the event.

• Do I need an internet connection to record?

  

  You need an internet connection to synchronize recording across multiple devices. The event manager's start and stop commands are sent over the network. Recordings themselves are saved locally to each device. You will also need a connection afterwards to upload your recordings to Meddly for processing and syncing.

• How do I troubleshoot common issues, such as connectivity problems during events?

• The app is slow and unresponsive. What should I do?

  

  Sluggish performance can be improved by closing background apps, freeing up device storage, and ensuring your device meets the app's minimum system requirements. Clearing the app cache or restarting your device regularly can also contribute to smoother operation.

• Does Low Power Mode affect the app?

  

  Yes. Low Power Mode on iOS and Battery Saver on Android can throttle network activity, which may cause uploads to stall or slow down significantly. If you are uploading large files or experiencing connectivity issues, disable Low Power Mode while using the app for the best experience.

• How can I report a bug or provide feedback?

  

  We appreciate your input! To report a bug or offer feedback, navigate to the mobile app's Account Settings screen and you'll find a Support button on the bottom of page. Click the Support button to report a bug, request support, or submit feedback.

• Is there a free trial?

  

  Meddly is free to download. You can create a team, invite members, create events, and record with no cost and no time limit. Tokens are only required when you want to process footage or generate Moments. There is no separate trial mode.

• Do you offer an API or integrations?

  

  Not at this time. If you have specific integration needs, please reach out through our contact form and we will be happy to discuss your requirements.

• Is there a limit to how many devices I can use for one event?

  

  No. There is no limit to the number of devices you can use at an event. The only thing to keep in mind is that events with more uploaded media take longer to process.

• Does Meddly use AI?

  

  No. Meddly does not use AI for any of its media processes, including syncing, processing, and Moment generation.

Account

• How do I sign up for a Meddly account?

  

  You can create a Meddly account by downloading the mobile app. Sign up using your email address, or use your existing Google or Apple account for a faster setup. After creating your account, you'll be guided through a short welcome tour that covers the basics of teams, recording, and Moments.

• Can I sign in with Google or Apple?

  

  Yes! Meddly supports sign-in with both Google and Apple in addition to traditional email and password authentication. You can link your preferred account during sign-up for a seamless login experience.

• How do I reset my password or recover my account?

  

  Click here to navigate to the Forgot Password page. Follow the provided instructions to reset your password. Alternatively, you can access the Forgot Password page on the mobile app by going to the Login screen and selecting "Forgot Password". If you're still unable to access your account, please reach out to our support team for further assistance.

• Can I use the app on multiple devices with the same account?

  

  Yes. Login with the same account credentials and your data should sync across them. However, some features may have limitations or require additional setup for multi-device usage.

• How do I edit my profile information?

  

  To update your profile, go to the Settings tab in the mobile app and select your profile. From there you can edit your name, username, email, and phone number. You can also update your device name from the Settings screen.

Teams

• What are teams and how do I create one?

  

  Teams are the foundation of Meddly. A team is a group of people who collaborate on events together. All events, media, and tokens belong to a team rather than an individual. To create a team, go to the Home screen in the mobile app.

• How do I invite someone to my team?

  

  Admins and Editors can invite new members from the Team tab. Tap the invite option, search for the person by email, and assign them a role. If the person doesn't have a Meddly account yet, they'll receive an email invitation to join.

• What are the different team member roles?

  

  Meddly has four team roles, each with different permissions:

  • Admin: Full control over the team, including creating events, managing members, purchasing tokens, and generating Moments.
  • Editor: Can create events, manage media, and generate Moments.
  • Contributor: Can record at events and upload footage.
  • User: Can view events and media.

• Can I be a member of multiple teams?

  

  Yes! You can belong to multiple teams simultaneously. Switch between your teams from the Home screen to access each team's events, media, and settings independently.

• How do I delete a team?

  

  Only team Admins can delete a team. To do so, navigate to Settings within the team context and look for the delete option at the bottom of the Team settings. Please note that deleting a team is permanent and will remove all associated events, media, and data.

Events and Recording

• How do I create an event?

  

  Admins and Editors can create events from the Events tab or from the Home dashboard. Tap the create button and fill in the event details. You can also set up an event in advance so team members know when to connect their devices.

• How does synchronized multi-device recording work?

  

  When an event is in progress, team members open the Meddly app and connect to the event. The event manager controls the start and stop of recording for all connected devices simultaneously. Each device records locally, and after the event the recordings are uploaded and automatically synced to a shared timeline using audio-based alignment.

• Can I use external cameras or drones alongside smartphones?

  

  Yes! While the Meddly mobile app handles synchronized recording from smartphones, you can upload footage from digital cameras, drones, and other recording devices after the event. Upload your external footage through the Event Media section using the Upload tab, and Meddly will sync it with the rest of your recordings.

• What is an Instant Event?

  

  An Instant Event lets you start recording immediately without any advance setup. It uses your current location and time to create the event on the fly. This is ideal for spontaneous moments when you want to capture multi-angle footage right away. Only Admins and Editors can create Instant Events.

• Who can see my events and media?

  

  Events and event media are private to your team. Only team members with the Admin or Editor role can view events and event media. Meddly does not use your content for marketing, training, or any purpose beyond delivering the service to your team.

• What happens if my upload fails or I can't upload right away?

  

  Your recordings are saved locally on your device. If an upload fails, the app keeps it in your upload queue so you can retry at any time. You can also upload recordings later from the Uploads screen on your team's home dashboard or from the Event Media screen. There is no time limit on when you can upload after an event. Uploads work over both Wi-Fi and cellular.

• What happens if a device loses internet connection during recording?

  

  If a device loses its connection during recording, remote recording controls (start/stop from the event manager) stop working for that device. The camera will continue recording locally until it is manually stopped. No footage is lost. Once the device reconnects, the recording can be uploaded normally.

• What happens if my phone battery gets low during recording?

  

  Meddly monitors your device battery during recording to protect your footage:

  • At 10% battery, you'll receive a warning notification.
  • At 5% battery, new recordings are blocked to preserve your device.
  • At 3% battery, any active recording is automatically stopped and saved.

  We recommend starting events with a fully charged device or keeping a charger nearby.

• What if only one device records at the event?

  

  That works fine. You can record with a single device and upload additional camera angles later through the Event Media section. Meddly will sync everything together once all footage is uploaded.

• Can I use Meddly for recurring events like weekly shows or sermon series?

  

  Yes! Meddly is designed to be an easily repeatable process. Create a new event each time, connect your devices, and record. The workflow is the same whether it is your first event or your fiftieth.

• What should I do if my upload stalls on a large video?

  

  Event videos longer than 20 minutes can occasionally stall during upload. If this happens, swipe left on the upload in your upload queue and retry it. Retrying typically resolves the issue and the upload will complete successfully. Uploads continue in the background, so you can switch to other apps while an upload is in progress. Your upload progress is preserved in the queue, so nothing is lost when you retry.

  For the best results with large uploads:

  • Use a strong, stable Wi-Fi connection rather than cellular data.
  • Avoid uploading multiple large files at the same time.
  • Disable Low Power Mode, which can throttle network activity.

  If the upload continues to stall after retrying, try switching to a different Wi-Fi network or restarting your device before retrying again.

• What happens if my device runs out of storage during recording?

  

  If your device runs out of storage space during recording, the recording may be interrupted and footage from that session could be lost.

  To avoid this, make sure you have plenty of free storage before recording, especially for longer events. You can free up space by deleting unused apps, old photos, or cached data. As a general rule, longer events with higher video quality will require more storage.

• What happens to my recording if the app crashes or closes unexpectedly?

  

  If the app closes unexpectedly during recording, the recording in progress may not be saved. However, any recordings that were completed and saved before the crash remain safe in your upload queue and camera roll.

  To minimize the risk of interruptions, close other apps before recording, keep your device charged, and make sure you have enough free storage. If a recording is lost, you can still upload footage from other devices that captured the same event.

• A device can't join or connect to my event. What should I do?

  

  If a device is having trouble joining an event, fully close the Meddly app and reopen it. Then navigate back to the camera screen and try connecting again. Make sure the device has a stable internet connection and that the event is currently active.

• My device is getting hot during a long recording. What should I do?

  

  Extended recording sessions can cause your device to heat up, which may lead to reduced performance or the device shutting down the camera to protect itself. To help prevent overheating:

  • Remove your phone case during long recordings.
  • Keep your device out of direct sunlight.
  • Avoid charging while recording if possible.
  • Close other apps running in the background.

  If your device becomes too hot, stop recording and let it cool down before continuing. Your completed recordings are saved locally and will not be affected.

• What happens if I switch apps or lock my screen during recording?

  

  If you briefly switch to another app or lock your screen, return to the Meddly app as soon as possible. Recording may be interrupted while the app is in the background, depending on your device and operating system. If you navigate away from the camera screen within the app, your recording is automatically stopped and saved.

  For the best results, keep the Meddly app in the foreground with the camera screen active for the entire duration of your recording.

Media and Processing

• What are Moments and how are they generated?

  

  Moments are Meddly's auto-generated multi-angle video productions. After your recordings are synced, you can generate a Moment by selecting your preferred orientation (landscape or portrait), total length, and segment length. Meddly then assembles footage from all angles into a polished, multi-angle video. No manual editing needed.

• How does Meddly sync recordings from multiple devices?

  

  Meddly uses audio fingerprint-based alignment technology to automatically sync recordings. After all footage is uploaded, the system analyzes the audio tracks from each recording to find matching patterns and precisely aligns them to a shared timeline. This means you don't need timecodes or clapboards; the audio captured at the event does the work.

• Can I download my videos and Moments?

  

  Yes! You can download your processed videos and generated Moments directly from the app. Use the share or download option on any video or Moment to save it to your device or share it through your device's native share sheet.

  Event media must be processed before it can be downloaded. Raw, unprocessed recordings are not available for download.

  Meddly also generates a CMX 3600 EDL for every event and Moment, so you can import the edit into professional video editors like Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro.

• How long does processing take?

  

  Processing 1 minute of video typically takes about 20 seconds. Generating a Moment takes roughly 25 seconds per minute of output. For example, a 30-minute event with 4 cameras would process in approximately 10 minutes, and a 5-minute Moment would generate in about 2 minutes. You will receive a notification in the app when each step is complete.

• Can I choose between landscape and portrait for my Moments?

  

  Yes! When generating a Moment, you can select either landscape or portrait orientation. You can also configure the total length and segment length to customize how the final video is assembled.

• How long is my media stored?

  

  Unprocessed media is automatically deleted 7 days after upload. You will receive a notification before unprocessed media expires so you have time to process it. Processed media (synced footage and Moments) is stored for as long as your account is active.

• What happens if processing fails or media shows an error?

  

  If processing encounters an issue, you'll see an error notification in your event's notification area. When a failure is caused by a platform error rather than a problem with the source file, Meddly automatically refunds the tokens that were charged. You do not need to request a refund manually in that case.

  Common causes of processing errors include corrupted uploads or interrupted connections. You can retry the upload from the Uploads screen in the mobile app. If the issue persists, contact our support team through the app's Account Settings for assistance.

• Can I control how the final video is edited?

  

  Moment generation is fully automated. Meddly selects and switches between camera angles for you. If you want full creative control over the edit, you can export an EDL (Edit Decision List) and import it into a professional video editor like Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro.

• Can I re-generate a Moment with different settings?

  

  Yes. You can create as many Moments as you like with different settings, such as orientation, total length, and segment length. Each Moment generation costs tokens.

• Can I exclude a camera angle from my Moment?

  

  Yes. You can manage which recordings are included by editing the event media in the mobile app. Open the event, go to Event Media, and remove any angles you do not want before generating your Moment.

• My media didn't sync properly. What should I do?

  

  If your media shows as unsynced or fails to align with other recordings after processing, try the following:

  • Make sure all recordings from the event have been uploaded. If any uploads are still pending, complete them before processing.
  • Check that each recording was captured during the same event. Recordings from different events cannot be synced together.
  • If all media has been uploaded and sync still fails, try removing the affected recording from the event media and re-uploading it.

Tokens and Pricing

• Is Meddly free to download?

  

  Yes. Meddly is free to download and use. You can create a team, invite members, and record events at no cost. Tokens are only needed when you want to sync, process, or generate Moments from your recordings.

• How does Meddly's token-based pricing work?

  

  Meddly uses a pay-as-you-go token system instead of subscriptions. Tokens are purchased in packages and used when processing media and generating Moments. This means you only pay for what you use. There are no recurring fees or unused subscription months. Tokens belong to your team, so any eligible team member can use them.

• How many tokens does it cost to process media and generate Moments?

  

  Token costs vary by the type of processing:

  • Video processing: 6 tokens per minute of footage
  • Moment generation: 50 tokens per minute of final video

• Where do I buy tokens?

  

  Token packages can be purchased directly within the Meddly mobile app. Any team member with the Admin or Editor role can buy tokens from the team dashboard.

• Do tokens expire?

  

  No. Tokens never expire. Once purchased, they remain on your team's balance until you use them, whether that's days, weeks, or months later.

• What happens if I run out of tokens mid-process?

  

  The app calculates the required tokens before any operation begins. If your balance is too low, the app will let you know and you can purchase more tokens before starting. You will never lose progress due to running out of tokens mid-process.

• Who on my team can purchase and spend tokens?

  

  Only team members with the Admin or Editor role can purchase token packages and initiate processing or Moment generation that spends tokens. Contributors and Users cannot make purchases or spend tokens.

• Where can I see my team's remaining token balance?

  

  Your team's current token balance is displayed on the Home dashboard when viewing your team. Admins and Editors can see the balance at a glance and navigate to purchase additional tokens when needed.

• Can I get a refund on tokens?

  

  If processing fails due to a platform error, Meddly automatically refunds the tokens that were charged. No action is needed on your part.

  For refunds on token purchases themselves, those are handled through the App Store or Google Play. Refund eligibility follows their respective policies. If you have questions about a specific purchase, contact Apple or Google support directly through their store.

• Are there any additional fees when purchasing tokens?

  

  Token packages are purchased through the App Store or Google Play. Apple and Google charge a platform fee on all in-app purchases, which is reflected in the token package pricing. The token amounts shown in the app are exactly what your team will receive.

Production

• What video and audio formats does Meddly accept?

  

  Meddly accepts the following formats for media uploads:

  • Video: MP4
  • Audio: MP3

  When uploading footage from external cameras or audio equipment, make sure your files are in one of these supported formats before uploading.

• How long can events be?

  

  We recommend keeping event length shorter than three hours.

• What is the limit on the number of cameras that can be utilized for each event?

  

  Feel free to use as many cameras as you want!

• Can I use my professionally remixed audio as the primary audio for my event?

  

  Absolutely! You can manage additional audio and video sources through the mobile app. Simply upload your professionally shot audio and video to elevate the quality of your events!

• I want to upload a video after the event has ended. Can I do this?

  

  Yes! Within the mobile app, view your event and tap on the listed Event Media. Select Edit Event Media and then navigate to the Upload tab. Then select Upload Video.

• I want to upload new audio after the event has ended. Can I do this?

  

  Yes! In the mobile app, view your event and tap on the listed Event Media. Select Edit Event Media and then navigate to the Upload tab.

• Can I edit my videos within the mobile app?

  

  No, direct video editing within the mobile app is not available. However, once your event video recordings are successfully uploaded to the cloud, you can easily download them. After the event processing is complete, you have the freedom to edit your videos locally and then re-upload them with the desired modifications.

  For professional workflows, Meddly also generates a CMX 3600 EDL (Edit Decision List) for every event and Moment. You can import the EDL into any major video editor to use Meddly's assembly as a starting point for further refinement.

• Does Meddly support live streaming?

  

  No. Meddly only supports recordings of events for a variety of reasons, but here are the two primary:

  • Recording allows for higher production values than live streaming. Creators can use professional equipment, lighting, and editing tools to produce a more polished and visually appealing final product.
  • Live streaming requires a stable and reliable internet connection. Recording allows creators to overcome potential technical challenges and ensure event media is uploaded properly, ensuring a smoother production process.

• Can Meddly assist with live event production, including camera setup and technical support during the event?

  

  Meddly does not provide camera setup or rental services. However, we do offer comprehensive technical support to ensure the smooth execution of your live event. For assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to our dedicated support team by submitting your inquiry through the mobile app.

  To request support, navigate to the mobile app's Account Settings screen. Once on the Account Settings screen, click the Support button on the bottom of page to request support.

• What resolution and frame rate are Moments rendered at?

  

  Moments are rendered at 1080p at 30 fps and delivered as MP4 x264 files.

• Does Meddly support EDL export for professional video editors?

  

  Yes. Meddly automatically generates a CMX 3600 EDL (Edit Decision List) for every event and every Moment. The EDL maps each video segment with source and record timecodes, clip names derived from your original filenames, and audio track placement.

  You can import the EDL into industry-standard editors like Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, and Avid Media Composer. This lets you use Meddly's automated multi-angle assembly as a starting point, then relink media, adjust cuts, color grade, and finish in your preferred NLE. EDL generation is automatic and included at no extra token cost.
